Kalvin Guyton was born on June 11, 1990 to Kalvin Guyton Sr. and Sandra Jackson. Kalvin Guyton grew up in Houston, Texas and played for the Lamar High School football team.

Kalvin Guyton was well known at Lamar High School for his incredible speed. On the track team, Kalvin Guyton was first in the the 100 meters during the District track meet, clocking a speedy 10.9 seconds. Kalvin Guyton put that same speed to good use on the football field. As a sophomore, Kalvin Guyton sprinted a total of 698 yards and eight touchdowns. As a junior, Kalvin Guyton had 931 rushing yards on 78 carries and 15 touchdowns. Kalvin Guyton was a senior in 2008 who totaled 745 yards and 13 touchdowns.

As a junior, Kalvin Guyton was recognized as the District Offensive MVP. Kalvin Guyton was also part of the Houston Touchdown Club's Preseason Team.

Kalvin Guyton considered Nebraska, Minnesota, Kentucky and Iowa State but opted for Texas A&M. Kalvin Guyton redshirted in 2009.
